Designers of Things Conference @ Mission Bay Conference Center
Sep 23 – Sep 25 all-day

Where Future Tech Comes Together

Three of the hottest and most revolutionary topics in future tech will be brought together at the inaugural Designers of Things conference, giving the growing design and development community a meeting place to discuss and share insights about the state of the industry and future opportunities, build skills, network, get advice and discover investment opportunities, and see and touch live demos of the newest technologies and products in these industries.

Sponsored in part by IPSO member Freescale and Grid Connect.

Grid Connect will be available at Booth 102.

Attend IPSO member Atmel’s Vice President and GM, Wireless Solutions, Kaivan Karimi’s talk on “Evolution of Technologies Needed for Wearable Devices” on Tuesday the 23rd at 9am:

Wearables are a hot topic within the technology industry and big name enterprises and small startups alike are working endlessly to develop the next high-profile wearable device. Wearables, which are also integrating into fashion industry, allow users to access technology hands free, as well as fueling the self-quantification movement, paving the way for the upcoming always-on healthcare revolution. Using specific examples from the smart watch and clothing/fashion categories, this presentation will educate the attendees on the underlying hardware, software, sensing, connectivity, and security technologies needed to make Wearables happen, and get them integrated into already existing broader networks.

ARM TechCon @ Santa Clara Convention Center
Oct 1 – Oct 3 all-day

Ranked one of the top three must-attend events in the embedded industry, ARM® TechCon™ is more than a conference. ARM TechCon’s unique 360-degree interactive training ground is seeded to connect, instruct, advise and enable the world of electronic and ARM-based computer design, and provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of ARM-based technology.

With a talk by IPSO Vice President and Executive Vice President and CTO of Micrium, Christian Légaré on Wednesday the 1st:

“Embedded Systems : Catching the IoT Wave”

The embedded industry is being revitalised by the Internet of Things. ARM is a leader in micro-controller design. IoT devices as embedded systems cover a large range of devices from low-power, low-performance sensors to high-end gateways. This presentation will highlight the elements an embedded engineer needs to analyze before selecting the MCU for his design. Software is fundamental in IoT: from networking to power management, from vertical market protocols to IoT Cloud protocols and services, from programming languages to remote firmware update, these are all design criteria influencing an IoT device design.

With the attendees, we will review and analyse the IoT design challenges for:

  • Code size and RAM requirements for the major networking stacks
  • Optimizing TCP/IP ressources versus performance
  • Using Java from Oracle or from other vendors versus C
  • WiFi (radio only or integrated module)
  • Bluetooth (Classis versus LE)
  • IoT protocols
TSensors Summit @ Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa
Nov 12 – Nov 13 all-day

TSensorsSummit Banner

Welcome to the second U.S. Summit — the TSensors (Trillion Sensors) Summit San Diego — which will be held on November 12-13, 2014 at the resort Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa, immediately adjacent to the campus of UC San Diego. TSensors Summit San Diego will bring over 30 presenters, and the expected attendees is 400.T

The unprecedented forecast for sensor growth is supported by the emergence of multiple global economic tides including Internet of Everything (the largest economic tide in history of humans with forecasted growth by $19 trillion by 2020), emergence of Exponential Technologies accelerating growth of goods and services above the demand growth rate, and the emergence of Exponential Organizations redefining business models and replacing traditional linear organizations. The expected outcome will be massive creation of new jobs and Abundance , and the elimination of major global problems such as hunger, lack of medical care, clean water and energy within one generation, in about 20 years.

gogoNET LIVE! 5 Internet of Things & IPv6 Conference @ Plug and Play Tech Center
