New IEEE Networking Standard Moves Industry toward Interoperability

The recent release of a new global wireless networking standard from IEEE moves the Smart Grid Industry moves the smart grid network one step closer to network interoperability. The IEEE 802.15.4g radio standard, published on April 28, 2012 establishes common and consistent communication specifications for utilities deploying smart grid technologies, enabling interoperable communications between smart grid devices, including smart meters and smart home appliances.
